The Leesburg congregation has a long history of supporting mission work around the world. We believe in the strategy of Acts 1:8, “And you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem (where you live), and in all Judea and Samaria (the area around you), and even to the remotest part of the earth (globally).” We don’t always implement in perfectly but it is the model we strive to implement as God opens doors of opportunity.
In our early history (1979-1999) we were a mission work to Loudoun County started by the Fairfax Church of Christ with major contributing support from the Broadway Church of Christ in Paducah, Kentucky. Upon becoming self-sufficient (and without a building mortgage) the congregation became actively involved in mission work Chattanooga, Tennessee (www.ercoc.com), the work of Mukti Shah in Kuhlna, Bangladesh, and the evangelistic work of Lujan Cruz in the area around Santo Tomas, Nicaragua. At present we continue to support the church planting work in Nicaragua.
We regularly encourage the congregation to become active with Churches of Christ Disaster Relief for domestic benevolence, Helping Hands International for global relief, and Orphan’s Lifeline International in order to practice “pure and undefiled religion (James 1:27). We provide a meal each month to our local homeless shelter and generously give to the needs of our members, the kids at Cool Spring Elementary School, and needs in our local community.
